Da Vinci and the Ten Things: The Way to the Last Supper

“Although nature commences with reason and ends in experience it is necessary for us to
do the opposite, that is, to commence with experience and from this to proceed to

investigate the reason.” Leonardo da Vinci

In his analysis of Creation, Leonardo da Vinci tells us of the “ten things” or elements
seen in the visible world and how every artist of sacred art needs to know them. These ten elements assist the artist in understanding the nature of Nature.
During this one-week intensive, we will discuss, illustrate, and demonstrate all ten points and how they are manifested in sacred art. From the science of light and shade to the invention of perspective, and human proportions, this course will assist the artist in those conceptual, perceptual and technical skills that best engage the Christian imagination.

This week-long workshop’s studio time lasts five consecutive days and begins with check-in at 4:30PM on Sunday night.
Dinner is at 5:30 pm students and instructors. Dinner is followed by a workshop introduction and conference which ends at 9:00 pm. Hands-on instruction begins early Monday morning. The entire workshop ends Friday at 1 P

A $100 materials and model fee is included in the cost of this workshop.

All materials used in this workshop will be pre-ordered and made available to students in the classroom by the instructor.

All other equipment and art supplies are the property of the Enders Island Sacred Art Institute.
