Welcome to Enders Island

Our facility is available to outside organizations who wish to utilize our space. The island and our kitchen staff can accommodate overnight groups of up to 52 people, and even larger groups for a day visit. To ensure that we can provide all the necessary rooms and facilities, we encourage you to contact us well in advance.

At St. Edmund’s Retreat, you can find the peace and beauty, which we frequently miss in the busyness of our everyday lives. The many gardens, pathways and shrines on Enders Island provide opportunities for  reflection and appreciation of what the poet Gerard Manley Hopkins called “the grandeur of God.”

During the period from April through November—when we traditionally have more requests for weekend retreats then we can accommodate—we require a 2 night and 20 guest minimum for all Friday to Sunday groups. We give priority to returning groups and groups of 25 or more.

St. Edmund’s Retreat is a Catholic Retreat Center. To book your group with us, you must abide by both our mission and refrain from activities which are against Catholic teaching.

OUR MISSION

Enders Island is home to St. Edmund’s Retreat, a Catholic Community whose primary mission is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and in deed, through the hospitality and care we offer visitors, and retreatants who cross our causeway seeking an experience of God’s healing, redeeming and renewing love.

OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES

We are guided by principles that every person we encounter is an honored guest, a person created in the image of God. Our ministry of hospitality draws on the rich traditions of our Catholic Faith, which recognizes that each person is created in the image of God and that all of us share a common dignity and are dearly beloved by Him.
