Loss to Addiction

“As someone grieving an overdose death , you deserve special understanding .”

                                                                                                                             Dr. Alan Wolfelt

When you lose someone you love to an accidental drug overdose the grief that follows can be especially challenging and painful. The disease of addiction is complex and painful for everyone. The thoughts and feelings surrounding the death of an overdose can be difficult to understand. Each person’s grief is unique.

Using the touchstones from Understanding Your Grief  and the principles in the guide book Understanding Your Grief after a Drug-Overdose  both by Dr. Alan Wolfelt, we will  explore the many factors surrounding the loss of a loved one from addiction as we support each other.

Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone”     Fred Rogers

The promise of Jesus’ Resurrection brings Healing and Hope in the midst of grief and sorrow; reflecting on how this promise can bring me a sense of peace is an important part of grieving for people of faith.

  •  Zoom meetings will be held on the Third Monday of the month at 7:00 pm, starting September 18, 2023.
  • Amazon link for the books if you choose to purchase Understanding Your Grief After a Drug-Overdose Death
