Prayer Shawl Workshop
With Dawn Zillich
October 24, 2026
Join us on Ender’s Island for a morning of reflection and learning. Individuals and groups are welcome and all skill levels can attend this workshop focused on knitting prayer shawls for those who are sick or in need of a blessing. Prayer shawl ministries, which began in Connecticut, provide a meditative experience for the knitter and a loving reminder to anyone in need or celebrating a milestone. We will be knitting two shawls from The Prayer Shawl Companion book by Janet Bristow and Victoria Cole-Galo (ISBN: 9781600850035). Beginner knitters can learn to make the Beautiful Shawl pattern while intermediate-advanced knitters may stretch their skills with the Seven Sacraments shawl.
At Enders Island, all of our workshops are grounded in the Theology of Sacred Art. Each class is specially designed to teach the history and techniques of the discipline in a way that is both accessible to the beginner and challenging for the experienced artist. All workshops are paced so that participants leave with a finished work of art.
This one-day workshop will begin with Mass at 9:00 AM. Following Mass, please follow the signs directing you to registration. The workshop will run from 10 AM – 1:30 PM
