Prayer Shawl Workshop

Join us on Ender’s Island for a morning of reflection and learning. Individuals and groups are welcome and all skill levels can attend this workshop focused on knitting prayer shawls for those who are sick or in need of a blessing. Prayer shawl ministries, which began in Connecticut, provide a meditative experience for the knitter and a loving reminder to anyone in need or celebrating a milestone.
We will be working on patterns from The Prayer Shawl Companion by Janet Bristow and Victoria Cole-Galo (ISBN: 9781600850035). Depending on your experience, you can choose your path:

Beginner Knitters: Learn the fundamentals while crafting the Beautiful Shawl pattern.

Pattern: https://ravel.me/beautiful-shawlYarn: 250 yards Bulky #5 weight (for beginners it is recommended do not get novelty yarns that are very dark, marled or difficult to read)Needles: US17 (12.0 mm) or needles that gets a gauge or 8 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in Garter StitchKnit kit that includes stitch markers, scissors, gauge ruler and darning needle.

Intermediate/Advanced Knitters: Challenge your skills with the intricate Seven Sacraments shawl.

At Enders Island, all of our workshops are grounded in the Theology of Sacred Art. Each class is specially designed to teach the history and techniques of the discipline in a way that is both accessible to the beginner and challenging for the experienced artist.
This one-day workshop will begin with Mass at 9:00 AM. Following Mass, please follow the signs directing you to registration. The workshop will run from 10 AM – 1:30 PM
