Drawing, Painting, and Transformation

Join us for a “not to be missed” workshop with one of the masters, James Patrick Reid. At this workshop you will discover the perennial principles of picture making, together with their theological roots and implications. Throughout this workshop you will participate in informative slide lectures, demonstrations, and multiple drawing and painting projects.

James Patrick Reid is known for his lectures on art history and appreciation from a spiritual perspective, and his sacred paintings can be found in many churches and monasteries. Both art and Christianity involve transformation — of perception, of materials, and of lives. All levels, from beginner to advanced, will gain an enhanced ability to make and appreciate art, and experiential knowledge of the vital role of art in Christian life.

This week-long workshop’s studio time lasts five consecutive days and kicks off on Sunday night at 5:30 pm with a dinner where students and the instructor have an opportunity to meet. Dinner is followed by a workshop introduction and conference which ends at 9:00 pm. Hands-on instruction begins early Monday morning with a blessing of hands at the 9:00 am Mass. The entire workshop ends Friday at 1 PM.

A $100 materials and model fee is included in the cost of this workshop.

All materials used in this workshop will be pre-ordered and made available to students in the classroom by the instructor.
