Event Introduction
When someone you love dies, it can be difficult to understand your often complex and painful thoughts and your feelings surrounding the loss. Understanding Your Grief uses the book and workbook of the same name by author Dr. Alan Wolfelt. We will explore the 10 touchstones—or trail markers—that are essential physical, emotional, cognitive, and social signs for mourners to look for on their journey through grief.
Explaining the important difference between grief and mourning, this book explores every mourner’s need to acknowledge death and embrace the pain of loss of a loved one.
We will also explore the many factors surrounding the loss of a loved one, that make each person’s grief unique, as well as the many normal thoughts and feelings mourners might have.
The promise of Jesus’ Resurrection brings Healing and Hope in the midst of grief and sorrow; reflecting on how this promise can bring me to a sense of peace is an important part of grieving for people of faith.
Understanding Your Grief is led by Linda Whelan. She will use the book “Understanding Your Grief: Ten Essential Touchstones for Finding Hope and Healing Your Heart” by Alan D. Wolfelt, PhD, as a resource.
Registration will include a copy of this book.
