Seek & Surrender: A Journey Through Recovery

August 7 - 9, 2026
A Women’s Step 3 & Step 11 Retreat: Exploring what it means to turn it over – and how to stay connected once we do!
Step Three invites us to make a decision: to turn our will and our lives over to the care of a Power greater than ourselves. Step Eleven invites us into a daily practice of seeking — through prayer and meditation — to improve our conscious contact with that Power. Together, these steps become the heartbeat of a spiritually grounded recovery.
As women in recovery, control can often feel safer than surrender. We’ve learned how to manage, fix, over-function, and hold everything together. Letting go can feel unfamiliar — even vulnerable. For many of us, control wasn’t a character defect; it was survival.
Most of us understand these steps in theory. We’ve read them. We’ve said them. We’ve tried to live them. And yet, bringing them fully into our hearts — and into our daily lives — is an ongoing journey. This weekend is about softening into that journey. It’s about opening to the possibility of trusting and letting go one day at a time.
Enders Island has long been steeped in the traditions and spirituality of the Twelve Step Program which had it’s beginnings in 1935 with the birth of AA. Our Recovery Retreats provide a unique opportunity for individuals to encounter and accompany one another as a recovery community seeking to live out the twelve steps, with particular emphasis on the eleventh step:
“We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood God, praying for the knowledge of God’s will for us and for the power to carry that out.”
Find solace and renewal on the serene shores of Enders Island. Our single-gender Eleventh Step Weekend Retreats offer a sacred space for reflection, prayer, and connection. Guided by an experienced director, you’ll embark on a journey of shared experience, strength, and hope, fostering deeper spiritual growth. Immerse yourself in the tranquility of this island sanctuary, enjoying two nights of peaceful respite and five nourishing meals, from Friday evening’s dinner to Sunday morning’s breakfast.
