Caroline Joy Adams
Caroline Joy Adams, M.Ed., has been an artist and writer all her life. Born in New York City, she majored in Studio Art at Rutgers University, and then attended
Columbia University’s Graduate School of the Arts, studying screenwriting and filmmaking. She later earned her Masters of Education degree at Cambridge
College, in Cambridge, MA. She has created a successful product line featuring her poetic words and unique calligraphic designs, which over the years have sold in retail stores, gift ships, catalogues, and online. Her most well-known piece, featuring her words and calligraphic design, is entitled “Your Life is a Sacred Journey,” and seems to resonate with people all over the world, as it is often used at spiritual retreats, including pilgrimages and labyrinth walks, from those held in Chartres, France, to the mystical roads of Ireland, to the desert trails of Arizona. Her newest title is, Transformational Journaling: A Helpful Guide to a Heart-Centered Writing Journey, published in the fall of 2023. Her previous titles include The Power to Write: Seven Keys to Discover Your Writer Within; Have Fun with Haiku; and An Italic Calligraphy Handbook (considered to be the classic textbook on this topic, written when she was teaching calligraphy at Harvard University). She has given workshops on various topics in many locations, including Newport, RI, Boston, Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard, MA, Big Bear Lake, CA and Maui, HI, and has also been a devoted faculty member at various colleges and universities (including those in New England, North Carolina, and Arizona).She loves teaching people of all ages and backgrounds to open to their own deepest wells of creativity, traveling to new places, writing, creating calligraphic art, photography, and inspiring everyone to become their own most creative, confident selves. She now lives in coastal Connecticut, and also spends time whenever possible in the majestic southwest.
