Deacon Doug & Cathy Hoffman

Doug is a veteran of the United States Air Force. After working six years at Electric Boat, Doug became a Groton Town Police Officer, retiring after 27 ½ years of service in 2015.
 
At the Easter Vigil Mass in 1993, he was received into the Catholic Church through the Right of Christian Initiation of Adults process. He became involved in his parish as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, adult chaperone for the High School Youth Group, Interim Youth Minister (assisted by his wife), and Lector.
 
In July 2001, he was accepted into the Norwich Diocesan Permanent Deacon Formation Program. He attended classes at Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, Connecticut, where he received a Certificate in Dogmatic Theology in May 2005.
 
Deacon Hoffman was ordained a permanent Deacon for the Norwich Diocese on June 12, 2005.  He is assigned to the parishes of St Mary, Mother of the Redeemer and Sacred Heart in Groton.
 
He has been married for 35 years to his high school sweetheart, Catherine. They have two sons, Christopher and Bryan. Both sons are married. Catherine and Doug are new grandparents compliments to their son, Chris, and his wife Lauren.
