Deacon Peter Emr

Ordained a Permanent Deacon in the Archdiocese of Newark, serving at Our Lady of the Visitation Parish in Paramus, N.J. Deacon Peter is commissioned by Contemplative Outreach as a Centering Prayer facilitator. He is a former teacher and administrator, member of The Mindfulness in Education Network, The Association for Contemplative Mind in Higher Education, “Mindful” magazine advisory team, The Mindful Schools Educators Community, Ramapo College’s Krame Center for Contemplative Studies and Mindful Living, and Bergen County Correctional Facility. Peter is a member of the Matt Talbot movement (Group 108) and leads retreats throughout the metropolitan area. He began his personal meditation practice in the 70’s which included Centering Prayer, Mindfulness, Zen, Hesychasm, Mikkyo, Yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong, and Ninpo Taijutsu.
