Linda Whelan

After 39 years of teaching, Linda retired from Stonington Public Schools in 2016. She graduated with a Bachelor of Education from St. Joseph’s College in Rutland, VT and went on to earn a Master of Education from Central Connecticut State University. She has lived in Southern RI since 1977 where she and her husband raised 3 children. Linda is an active member of the Enders Island community and stays busy with her 6 grandchildren.

In 2018 Linda’s son lost his battle to addiction and died of a drug overdose. It is her hope that as she copes with her own loss, she can help others who have also lost a loved one.

 

She has received grief support facilitator training from the Brian Dagle Foundation in 2021 and l at the Center for Loss and Life Transition, run by Dr. Alan Wolfelt.

Understanding Your Grief uses the book and workbook of the same name by author Dr. Alan Wolfelt. We will explore the 10 touchstones—or trail markers—that are essential physical, emotional, cognitive, and social signs for mourners to look for on their journey through grief.
