Mia is a Catholic artist focusing on charcoal, graphite, and oil paints. Her sacred art focuses on capturing the spirit and emotion of the scene and communicating it to the viewer. From a young age, she was drawn to art. However, it was not until her senior year of high school that she realized the artistic gift that God had given her. She has been cultivating her craft since then through commissions, classes, and workshops. Her work has been presented and awarded at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami, the Knights of Columbus Museum in Connecticut, the Orlando CityArts Gallery, the National Eucharistic Congress in Indiana, in several parishes, and other exhibits.
She is currently a student at the University of Florida studying psychology and specializing in behavioral and cognitive neuroscience. However, she is excited to pursue art in the future in whatever way the Lord wills it.

An Introduction to Drawing with Charcoal

May 25 - 30, 2025
Charcoal and graphite portraits very visibly capture the spirit and emotion of figures in pieces. This course’s goal is to explore how to capture the mind and heart of the viewer and lead them to contemplation through charcoal portraits. This workshop will include how to choose a subject matter that pulls in the viewer’s emotion, how to create an accurate sketch of a figure, the facial features and gestures that create evident emotions, and how to bring the portrait to life using different forms and techniques of charcoal and graphite.
