Sr. Rosemary Esseff O.P.

Sr. Rosemary Esseff, O.P., a Dominican Sister of Nashville, TN, holds a masters  degree in Choral Directing from Catholic University of America, a masters degree and Pontifical License in Composition from the Pontificio Istituto di Musica Sacra, the music conservatory of the Vatican in Rome, Italy. She will be returning soon to the Pontificio Istituto di Musica Sacra for the defense of her doctoral dissertation in Composition of Music.
As a composer and maestro, Sister Rosemary has a two-fold passion: 1) to train singers and directors how to sing chant and polyphony with beauty and skill; and 2) to teach composers how to write polyphonic and plainchant settings of the Roman Missal texts in English. Her years of experience and formation in Rome clarified her mission: to bring the “Roman” tradition to the English-speaking world. She is convinced that Catholics would fill the Churches if they experienced a truly beautiful interpretation of chant and polyphony.
