Climbing the Biblical Mountains of Hope: Holy Week Retreat
With Fr. Richard Myhalyk , SSE
April 13 - 20, 2025
The official hymn for Jubilee Year 2025 is “Pilgrims of Hope,” which prays, “Like a flame, my hope is burning, may my song arise to you: Source of life that has no ending, on life’s path, I trust in you.”
Father Myhalyk will offer this Holy Week retreat to rekindle your hope this Holy Year of the church.
In the ancient world, mountaintops were the dwelling places of the divine. When treading holy ground, one removed one’s sandals, honoring the holiness of the ground, the mountain, and God.
To celebrate Holy Week within the Holy Year, whose theme is Hope, Edmundite Father Myhalyk will present two daily conferences.
His talks will highlight the significant mountain events in Sacred Scripture and our hope to encounter God more fully and deeply by spiritually climbing each holy mountain. Presentations utilize Sacred Art to amplify appreciation of the events and lessons.
For example, Moses encountered God in the burning bush on Mount Sinai, and it was there that those Moses led became God’s people. So, we spiritually climb Sinai in the hope of encountering God and deepening our relationship with the supernatural. We explore how past encounters have shaped our understanding of God and our relationship with our Creator.
Retreatants will arrive on Palm Sunday in time for an evening meal and a welcome session and leave after Mass on Easter Sunday. This seven-day guided retreat includes daily liturgies and twelve conferences.
